About Central Department of English

The Central Department of English at University Campus Kirtipur, is one of the major departments under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Tribhuvan University, the oldest and the largest university of Nepal. It is the largest department in the University in terms the number of students and the faculty. The department is located at Kirtipur within the premises of the Central Campus of the University. It started Master in English program in 1965 and has produced a large number of scholars so far. Most of its alumni work in the academic and media sector all over the country. The Department runs Master in English and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) programs, and assists the Dean’s Office in running the Ph. D. program in English. The Department is planning to diversify academic programs under the department by running courses in Media Studies, Translation Studies, and Creative Writing as well in coming days.
