Amy McCulloch is a British-Canadian author of young-adult and adult fiction, including thrillers set in remote, fatal places. Her novel Breathless — about a climber on an 8,000-metre Himalayan peak who begins killing climbers before the summit — blends the tension of extreme mountaineering with a locked-world mystery.

McCulloch herself climbed a 7,000-metre peak to research her book, giving the detail-ringing story an authenticity no research library could grant. She writes across sci-fi, fantasy and thriller, has won awards in the YA space, and is praised for fast pacing and physically visceral adventure.
