American Appetites

In American Appetites, the facade of an affluent suburban couple crumbles under the weight of tragedy and scandal. When - during a drunken argument about suspected infidelity - Ian McCullough, a researcher at a social science think tank, accidentally pushes his wife, Glynnis, who entertains beautifully and writes trendy cookbooks, through a plate glass window, their American dream turns into a nightmare. A sophisticated, witty and chilling novel from the incomparable Joyce Carol Oates, American Appetites explores how successful lives can be dramatically altered by just one sudden and inexplicable lapse of judgment.
