Five Go Down to the Sea

Jan Francis's animated reading brings this clever seaside holiday tale to life for all ages. She flows seamlessly between five children's parts, as well as depicting two adults, with seemingly little effort. She delivers all parts of this smuggling mystery with suspense and humor, showcasing her broad vocal range. Especially humorous as the farmer, Francis renders his grunting speech succinctly, creating a hilarious effect children will love. Francis varies her reading rate, speaking rapidly at a higher pitch as the suspense increases, and lowers her voice during frightening passages.
