Phonics helps you learn to read and spell. Words are like codes and phonics teaches children how to crack the reading code. Phonics is indeed an important part of any reading development programme. Phonics teaching is often referred to as ‘synthetic phonics’. Phonics helps teach children the sounds made by individual groups, for example, the letter ‘c’ makes a 'k' sound.
