The Importance Of Dam: In the Coinage of Nepal

The Importance of Dam in the Coinage of Nepal by Bhubanesh Kumar Pradhan is a concise study of the historical role of the dam, one of Nepal’s traditional coin denominations. The book examines its origin, development, denominations, metal composition, weights, and use in everyday trade across different periods of Nepalese history. It also places the dam within Nepal’s wider monetary system, including its relationship with the jawa, paisa, mohar, and tanka. By documenting these small but historically significant coins, the book contributes to the study and preservation of Nepal’s numismatic heritage and provides useful reference material for scholars, collectors, and readers interested in Nepalese history.
