The Infinity Machine Demis Hassabis DeepMind and the Quest for Superintelligence

The Infinity Machine: Demis Hassabis, DeepMind, and the Quest for Superintelligence is an inside account of the rise of DeepMind and its cofounder, Demis Hassabis. Written by financial journalist and historian Sebastian Mallaby, the book follows Hassabis from chess prodigy and video-game designer to neuroscientist, entrepreneur, and one of the central figures in the global race to develop artificial general intelligence. Based on more than 30 hours of conversations with Hassabis and extensive interviews with colleagues, mentors, rivals, critics, and DeepMind insiders, the book examines the company’s major breakthroughs and high-stakes decisions. It explores DeepMind’s pursuit of AI systems capable of solving major scientific and human problems, as well as the commercial, geopolitical, and ethical tensions surrounding increasingly powerful machine intelligence. It is both a biography of Hassabis and a narrative history of the AI revolution.
