A. B.Keith
A.B. Keith (1879–1944) was a Scottish-born scholar of Sanskrit and orientalist, and a towering figure in the academic study of ancient Indian civilisation. His Religion and Philosophy of the Veda remains a classic two-volume study of the hymns and thought of the Rigveda and its commentaries.
A Regius Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Edinburgh, Keith was among the most prolific orientalists of his generation, publishing authoritative works on Sanskrit literature, law, statecraft and grammar. His Vedic scholarship, rigorous and encyclopaedic, continues to be consulted by students of Indology.
