Aileen Kelly

Aileen Kelly is a British scholar of Russian intellectual history, for long a fellow and lecturer in slavonic studies at the University of Cambridge. She is known for her work on Russian thinker Alexander Herzen and for editing the essays collected in Isaiah Berlin's Russian Thinkers.

In Russian Thinkers, Kelly provided the framing that brings Berlin's vivid portraits of Herzen, Turgenev, Belinsky and Tolstoy together. Her scholarship helped establish how Western readers understand the golden age of Russian letters and its engagement with political ideas.
