Alan Alexander Milne
Alan Alexander Milne (1882–1956) was an English author best remembered as the creator of Winnie-the-Pooh. His books about Christopher Robin and his toys in the Hundred Acre Wood, beginning with Winnie-the-Pooh in 1926, became the most beloved works of children's literature in the English language.
Milne had previously made his name as a humorist, essayist and playwright, and he confessed that the children's stories came as a surprise even to himself. Beyond the Hundred Acre Wood, however, adults remember the quiet wit of his essays and the tenderness beneath the pooh-corner frolics.
