Alastair Hannay
Alastair Hannay
Alastair Hannay is a British-born philosopher and the leading English-language authority on Søren Kierkegaard. His translations of Fear and Trembling and The Sickness Unto Death, with their lucid introductions, have become the standard versions through which readers first encounter Kierkegaard's paradoxes.
A professor emeritus of philosophy in Norway, Hannay has spent a career translating, editing and writing on Danish philosophy and aesthetics. He is known for combining precise scholarship with an open, accessible style that allows the intensity of Kierkegaard's ideas to shine through for the modern reader.
