Alex Garland
Alex Garland
Alex Garland is a British novelist, screenwriter and film director working across books and cinema. He made his name with the debut novel The Beach, and his sophomore novel The Tesseract, and later reinvented the thriller with scripts for 28 Days Later and Sunshine and directorial films such as Ex Machina and Civil War.
Garland's fiction has always pushed a literary sensibility into popular form, treating science, contagion and surveillance. Both his novels and his films are admired for cerebral tension, moral ambiguity and austere visual control, and he has become one of the most distinctive and unpredictable English-speaking storytellers of his generation.
