Alexander O. Smith is an American-Japanese literary translator best known for rendering modern Japanese fiction into vivid English. His translations of Keigo Higashino's Malice and The Devotion of Suspect X brought the most celebrated Japanese mystery writer to readers outside Japan.

Based in Japan for decades, Smith has translated manga (including major manga and video-game franchises), video games, and the canonical works of writers like Higashino and Oe.
