Ali Gripper

Ali Gripper is a British journalist and author who has written extensively on health and healthcare. A co-author of The Barefoot Surgeon, she helped tell the story of the Nepali eye surgeon Sanduk Ruit, the "god of sight" whose low-cost cataract techniques restored vision to hundreds of thousands across the developing world.

A medical writer and news reporter for major Australian and international outlets, Gripper teamed with Ruit to produce an unexpected bestseller celebrated for its portrait of a doctor refusing to accept the blindness the world deems inevitable. The book spread both his method and his humanity across audiences far beyond medicine.
