Alison Anderson
Alison Anderson
Alison Anderson is an American-born writer and translator based in Switzerland who has brought French-language fiction to a wide English readership. She translated Muriel Barbery's runaway bestseller The Elegance of the Hedgehog and several later novels of Barbery, including A Single Rose, A Simple Passion, and many others.
Anderson is herself a published novelist, with works about American expatriate life. Her translations have been praised for capturing the wounded elegance of Barbery's prose, and she has also translated the acclaimed stories of Clarice Lispector, making her one of the most-read translators of contemporary continental fiction.
