Alka Pande

Alka Pande is an Indian art historian, curator and professor, a leading figure in the aesthetics of Indian art and sexuality. Author of Al Fresco Kama and editor of the anthology The Pocket Kamasutra, she writes about the Kama Sutra from a scholarly and art-historical vantage, examining the text's relationship to Indian painting and erotic culture.

Pande serves as a consultant arts adviser in New Delhi and has curated major exhibitions of Indian art in India and abroad. Her work — including the landmark Kama Sutra Tree — has made modern Indian commentary on sexuality both scholarly and accessible.
