Allen Carr
Allen Carr (1934–2006) was a British author who built a worldwide movement around his method for giving up smoking and other addictions. His Easyway technique — most famously in The Easy Way to Stop Smoking — is credited with helping millions quit, and his books also cover alcohol, chocolate, weight (Easyweigh to Lose Weight) and fears such as flying.
A former smoker of a hundred cigarettes a day, accountant by profession, Carr discovered his method in 1983 and spent the rest of his life writing and running clinics. His core challenge to conventional willpower-based approaches — quit not by counting days but by changing mind-set — has endured for decades.
