Amal El-Mohtar

Amal El-Mohtar is a Canadian poet, critic and author of fiction at the frontier of science fiction and fantasy. She won the 2019 Hugo Award (with Max Gladstone) for the novella This is How You Lose the Time War, a dazzling epistolary duel between two enemy agents falling in love across time.

A poet whose verse appears widely, El-Mohtar is also a noted critic and anthologist. Her work is celebrated for jewel-like prose, lush imagery and a vision of language as a living weapon, establishing her as one of the most distinctive voices in modern speculative fiction.
