Amanda Padoan

Amanda Padoan is a US-based writer and editor whose reporting has centred environment, disaster and the Himalaya. She is the co-author of Buried in the Sky, the acclaimed account of the 2008 K2 disaster and the high-altitude porters who made expeditions possible, a work of climbing literature praised for giving the sherpas their voice.

Padoan has written for major publications on climbing, mountain communities and environmental stories. Buried in the Sky, a national classic of mountaineering reportage based on hundreds of interviews, changed how the culture of the Karakoram is written about.
