Amanda Therese Snellinger
Amanda Therese Snellinger is an American anthropologist and professor who has spent two decades researching Nepali politics and civil society. Her book Making New Nepal examines the activism of Nepal's youth and the 2006 movement that toppled the monarchy, and its place in the country's transition to federal democracy.
A scholar of social movements and the "generation gap" in south Asian politics, Snellinger has worked with grassroots organisations in Kathmandu and beyond for many years. Her ethnography is one of the few detailed accounts of how ordinary young Nepalis experienced their republic's founding decade.
