Ambrose Parry

Ambrose Parry is the pen name of the British writing team of Christopher Brookmyre and Dr Marisa Haetzman, a novelist and an anaesthetist. Their historical crime series — beginning with The Way of All Flesh and The Art of Dying — follows Dr Will Raven and housemaid Sarah Fisher investigating murders in the seedy surgery of nineteenth-century Edinburgh.

The husband-and-wife duo blend Brookmyre's plotting with Haetzman's medical history expertise, rendering the pain-free pioneer age of Victorian medicine with gruesome authenticity. The series has been lauded as "Edinburgh gothic at its best" and brought the anatomy-cutting scene of the 1840s vividly to life.
