Ambulal Purani

Ambulal Purani (1894–1965) was an Indian writer and a close personal disciple of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. His work The Life of Sri Aurobindo is a chronicle of the yogi's early years, drawn from people who knew him in the period before the ashram, and is considered a key biographical source for the tradition.

A banker turned devotee who joined the Aurobindo circle, Purani kept detailed accounts of his days with the Master. His biographies and reminiscences, including on Aurobindo's brother and the ashram's founding, are treasured primary materials of the Sri Aurobindo tradition.
