Amor Towles
Amor Towles is an American novelist whose elegant, humane storytelling has made him a modern bestselling master. A Gentleman in Moscow — the story of a Russian aristocrat placed under house arrest in a luxury hotel for thirty years — and his debut Rules of Civility, together with the western The Lincoln Highway, have been translated into dozens of languages.
Trained as a financier, Towles wrote his first novel while commuting, and only left finance after its publication. He is praised for plot architecture, period grace and his affection for formality — a "mid-century American" temperament that has made a writer of manners a literary phenomenon.
