Amy Heller

Amy Heller is an American scholar of Himalayan and Tibetan art, and a senior research fellow of the CNRS in Paris. Her book Hidden Treasures of the Himalayas catalogs and interprets the Buddhist art and architecture of the Nepalese valley and the frontierlands, pairing photography with decades of art-historical study.

Heller has published extensively on Tibetan thangka painting, bronze sculpture and the Buddhist heritage of the Kathmandu Valley. She is one of the rare art historians to work directly in the monasteries of the region, and her books have become standard references for the art and cultural history of the Himalaya.
