Amy J. C. Cuddy
Amy J. C. Cuddy
Amy J.C. Cuddy is an American social psychologist and former professor at Harvard Business School, and one of the most cited researchers on presence and power dynamics. Her TED Talk on "power posing" became one of the most-viewed in the world, and her book Presence and the leadership guide Leadership Presence (co-authored with the same title lead-in by her colleague) apply her research on how the body shapes confidence.
Cuddy studies how feeling powerful changes posture, risk and speech, and how "self-affirming" small changes can transform how others perceive us. Her research and writing have spread beyond academia to coaching, business and beyond, though her famous findings have been re-examined by replication studies. She teaches the practical craft of presence as a trainable skill.
