André van Lysebeth

André van Lysebeth (1919–2004) was a Belgian yoga teacher and author who did more than almost any other European to popularise hatha yoga in the West. His book Tantra: The Cult of the Feminine introduced a generation of readers to tantra as a deep, life-affirming spiritual path, and his earlier classics J'apprends le yoga (I Learn Yoga) sold in the millions.

A student in the lineage of the yoga school of Swami Sivananda, van Lysebeth taught and lectured for half a century across Europe and India. His clear, warm, practical teaching style literally shaped the yoga boom of the 1960s and 1970s.
