Andrew Quintman

Andrew Quintman is an American scholar of Tibetan Buddhism and professor of religious studies. His translation of The Life of Milarepa presents, with an illuminating introduction, the famous early biography of Tibet's great poet-saint, a work central to the Kagyu tradition.

Quintman is a leading authority on Tibetan hagiography, having written extensively on the genre of the Life (namtar) and on Milarepa's historical image. His edition reconstructs the oldest available Tibetan recension, and his scholarship has transformed how the history and legend of Tibetan masters is understood.
