Andrew S. Grove
Andrew S. Grove
Andrew S. Grove (1936–2016) was a Hungarian-American engineer and business leader, the third employee and later CEO and chairman of Intel, where he led the invention of the microprocessor era. His classic management manual High Output Management became the operating system for Silicon Valley, teaching that a manager's output is the output of their team.
A Holocaust survivor who emigrated from Hungary in 1956, Grove earned a doctorate in chemical engineering and helped Intel escape the memory-market competition of Japanese manufacturers and steer into microprocessors. His later book Only the Paranoid Survive coined the strategic term "strategic inflection point," and his writings are part of the foundational canon of modern management thought.
