Andrew Webber
Andrew Webber
Andrew Webber is a British Germanist and translator, professor of German at the University of Cambridge. His translation of Daniel Paul Schreber's Denkwürdigkeiten (The Schreber Case) brings the famous paranoid memoir that so influenced Freud and Lacan into accurate English.
Webber has written on the literature of German modernism, on bodies and on the uncanny, and served as a fellow and professor in Cambridge's German faculty. His edition of Schreber identifies the text's odd genius while situating it in medical and cultural history, and it has become the standard English access to the case that fascinated analysts.
