Andy Weir
Andy Weir
Andy Weir is an American writer, best known for The Martian, his debut about an astronaut stranded on Mars who must use science to survive. Self-published serially online, the novel became a global phenomenon, was translated everywhere and adapted into a major film directed by Ridley Scott; his later novels Artemis and Project Hail Mary extended his reputation as the master of rigorous, funny hard-soft-sci-fi.
Weir worked as a computer programmer before refusing corporate life to write. His style fuses meticulous physics and engineering detail with black humour and optimism, and Project Hail Mary (which was quickly movie-optioned) confirmed him as one of the most-read contemporary science fiction authors.
