Angela Rodel Georgi Gospodinov

The International Booker Prize-winning Bulgarian novel Time Shelter was placed into English by the translator Angela Rodel, whose name appears alongside author Georgi Gospodinov on its title page. Rodel is the leading American-Bulgarian translator of the generation of Bulgarian letters.

Beyond Time Shelter, Rodel has translated The Physics of Sorrow and a varied selection of Bulgarian poetry and prose. Honours for her translations include the U.S.-based literary translation prize, and her fluency with the melancholy, mnemonic texture of Gospodinov's prose is praised by critics worldwide.
