Angus Turvill

Angus Turvill is a British translator of contemporary Japanese fiction. He is the translator of Shoji Morimoto's Rental Person Who Does Nothing, the witty memoir of the fame-hungry Japanese man who rents out his undemanding presence — a job that made him a minor celebrity.

Turvill's translations, made with the publishing team behind the viral memoir, bring modern Japanese everyday-life writers to an English audience, and are praised for keeping the deadpan humour of the original intact. The book became an international talking point about paid companionship in the connected age.
