Anitaa Padhye

Anitaa Padhye is an Indian author who creates timeless introductions to classical Indian literature in light modern form. Her book Ten Classics presents retellings of ten masterpieces of the Indian narrative tradition — from the Raghuvamsa to the Vikram and the Vetala — retold for contemporary readers with scholarly care.

Padhye's books are designed for families and young adults meeting the classics for the first time, and for anyone who wants the Mahabharata, the Ramayana and the great story-cycles without the obscurity. Her retellings have been praised for restoring the narrative delight that canon makes opaque.
