Bookshops and Bonedust

Bookshops & Bonedust is a standalone prequel to Travis Baldree’s hit cozy fantasy Legends & Lattes, following a younger, battle‑hungry orc mercenary Viv who is sidelined by a leg injury and forced to recuperate in the sleepy seaside town of Murk. Bored and restless, Viv wanders into a failing bookstore run by foul‑mouthed rattkin bookseller Fern, accidentally becomes invested in saving the shop, collects a found family of bakers, innkeepers, gryphets and animated skeletons, and faces a lurking necromancer threat—all in a story many reviewers describe as “the prose equivalent of a warm blanket on a bleak day.”
