SEE Result 2082: Pass Rate Rises to 65.98 Percent, and What Your GPA Lets You Study Next
The National Examination Board published the SEE 2082 results on 11 May 2026 with a 65.98 percent pass rate. A plain reading of the numbers, what each GPA band opens up, and the grade increment exam explained.
The National Examination Board published the Secondary Education Examination results for 2082 on 11 May 2026, and the headline number is better than last year. The overall pass rate came in at 65.98 percent, up 4.17 percentage points from 61.81 percent the year before.
Here is what the numbers actually say, and what your GPA lets you do next.
SEE RESULT 2082 IN NUMBERS
Students who appeared: 512,421 Female students: 257,613 Male students: 254,801 Exam centres: 1,966 Overall pass rate: 65.98 percent Change from last year: up 4.17 percentage points
The exam ran through Chaitra and results followed roughly six weeks later, which is one of the faster turnarounds the board has managed in recent years.
A GPA IS NOT A PERCENTAGE
Every year students convert their GPA to a percentage in their head and panic. The SEE is graded on a four point scale, and colleges read the grade, not an imaginary percentage.
GPA 3.60 and above. This opens the door to science at competitive colleges, where an additional internal test is common.
GPA 3.20 to 3.59. A strong result. Science is realistic at many colleges, and management and humanities are comfortable.
GPA 2.80 to 3.19. This is the largest band of students in the country. Management, humanities and education programmes are the natural fit, and law and social work are worth a look.
GPA 2.00 to 2.79. You are admitted to Grade 11. Choose a stream you can actually carry for two years rather than the one with the most status.
Below 2.00 in a subject. The grade increment exam matters for you.
One rule holds across every band. Grade 12 is harder than Grade 10, and a stream chosen for prestige rather than interest is the single most common reason students lose a year.
THE GRADE INCREMENT EXAM
Students who want to lift a grade sit the grade increment, or supplementary, examination. For this cycle the National Examination Board scheduled it from Ashar 1 to Ashar 9, 2083, with papers running from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
Three things students get wrong about it.
- It is not a second chance to change streams late. Most Grade 11 admissions close before the increment results are out.
- Registration goes through your school, not directly to the board, and the deadline is earlier than students expect.
- The improved grade replaces the old one on your transcript, so it is worth preparing properly rather than sitting three subjects on a week of revision.
WHAT TO DO IN THE TWO WEEKS AFTER RESULTS
- Collect your mark sheet from your school. The online result is a preview. Admission offices want the printed mark sheet and the character certificate.
- Shortlist five colleges, not one. Two ambitious, two realistic, one safe. Check the last two years of Grade 12 results at each, not just the banner outside the gate.
- Compare total cost, not the monthly fee. Admission fee, monthly fee, exam fee, lab fee, uniform and books add up very differently between colleges that quote the same monthly number.
- Ask who actually teaches Grade 11, not which names are printed in the brochure.
- Confirm the scholarship policy in writing. Many colleges hold quota seats for high GPA students and for students from community schools, and they rarely advertise them well.
CHECKING YOUR RESULT
Results are published by the National Examination Board and mirrored on several portals. Keep your symbol number and date of birth ready. If a portal is slow on result day, the SMS service is usually faster than any website, because result day is the heaviest traffic event in Nepal's education calendar.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
