How to Check SEE Result with Marksheet via Online, SMS, and IVR

Every working way to check the SEE result with your marksheet, ranked for result day traffic: SMS to 1600, the IVR line, the USSD menu, the official portals and the wallet apps, plus how to read the grade sheet, what to do when your details are rejected, and how re-totalling and the grade increment exam work.

How to Check SEE Result with Marksheet via Online, SMS, and IVR

On the afternoon the National Examination Board publishes the SEE result, roughly half a million students and a few million anxious relatives hit the same handful of servers inside the same ten minutes. Websites time out. Pages load halfway and stall. Someone in the family insists the result is out while someone else insists it is not.

None of that means your result is missing. It means you picked the slowest door.

This guide covers every working way to check the SEE result with your marksheet, ranked by how well each one holds up under result day traffic: SMS, the IVR voice line, the USSD menu, the official web portals, and the wallet apps. It also covers the parts most guides skip, which is what to do when the portal rejects your details, how to read the grade sheet once it loads, what a withheld result means, and how re-totalling and the grade increment examination actually work.

What you need before you start

Every method asks for the same two things. Have them in front of you before result day, not during it.

What you needFormatWhere to find itCommon mistake
Symbol numberUsually 8 digits, sometimes with a letter suffix, for example 0201382DYour admit card, or your school's exam recordsTyping the registration number instead
Date of birthBikram Sambat, usually YYYY/MM/DD, for example 2055/06/03Your NEB registration recordEntering the AD year, for example 1998
A phone lineAny NTC line for SMS, IVR and USSDYour own or a neighbour'sAssuming every shortcode works on every network

The symbol number is the key the board's systems actually use. If you have lost your admit card, your school holds the symbol number list for all its candidates and can read yours out in a minute. Do not wait until result day to ask.

The date of birth trips up more students than anything else, and for a reason nobody warns you about. The portal checks against the Bikram Sambat date your school submitted in your NEB registration, not against your birth certificate. If the school typed a different date, the portal will reject your correct date and accept the wrong one. A student born on 19 Aswin 2055 enters 2055/06/03, not the English calendar equivalent. If your date is refused twice, ask your school what date sits in your registration.

Which method to use, ranked for result day

This ranking is about surviving load, not about how much detail each method gives you.

MethodSpeed on result dayGives full grade sheetNeeds internet
SMS to 1600Fastest, works while websites are downGrades per subject and GPANo
IVR call to 1600Fast, no data neededRead out by voiceNo
USSD *1600#Fast, menu drivenSummary on screenNo
Official web portalsSlow for the first two hoursYes, printableYes
eSewa, Khalti, Ncell appModerate, they handle load wellYes, formattedYes

The practical strategy: take your grades by SMS in the first hour, then open a portal in the evening when the surge has passed and download the printable sheet at leisure.

Method 1: Check SEE result by SMS

This is the method that works when everything else is failing, because it never touches a web server.

  1. Open the message app on your phone.
  2. Type SEE, then a space, then your symbol number. Example: SEE 0201382D.
  3. Send it to a shortcode from the table below.
  4. Wait. On result day the reply can take a few minutes because the queue is long.

Shortcodes that carry the SEE result

ShortcodeOperated byNotes
1600Nepal TelecomThe primary service, from NTC mobile and landline
35001Value added service providerWidely used on other networks
31061Value added service providerAlternative when 35001 is congested
31003Value added service providerAlternative
34455Value added service providerAlternative
34949Value added service providerAlternative

The format is identical on all of them: SEE <symbol number>. Nepal Telecom has generally run 1600 without charging for the result message, while the value added shortcodes are premium and bill at the provider's published per message rate. If cost matters, use 1600 from an NTC line.

What comes back

Your name, symbol number, the grade for each subject and your GPA, as plain text. It is not a formatted marksheet, and it is enough to know exactly where you stand. Screenshot it.

If the SMS fails

  • Check the space between SEE and the number. Missing it is the single most common failure.
  • Include the letter suffix exactly as printed on the admit card.
  • Send from a network the shortcode supports.
  • If nothing arrives within thirty minutes, the queue is saturated. Move to IVR rather than resending five times, because each resend puts you at the back of the same queue.

Method 2: Check SEE result by IVR phone call

The IVR line reads your result out loud. No internet, no smartphone, which makes it the most reliable option where data coverage is thin.

  1. Dial 1600 from an NTC line.
  2. Follow the voice prompts and choose the SEE result option.
  3. Key in your symbol number.
  4. The system reads back your grades and GPA.

One correction worth making, because it wastes a lot of time every year: 1600 is the SEE line, 1601 is the NEB Grade 12 line. Dialling 1601 for an SEE result gets you nowhere.

A busy tone in the first hour is normal and says nothing about whether your result exists. Because the grades are spoken, write them down as you listen rather than trusting your memory of eleven grades read at speed.

Method 3: Check SEE result by USSD

The least known method and a genuinely good one, because it works on a basic handset with no data and no SMS queue.

  1. Dial *1600# from an NTC SIM.
  2. Choose the result option from the menu.
  3. Enter your symbol number.
  4. The result appears on screen.

Method 4: Check SEE result online with the full marksheet

This is the method that gives you the printable grade sheet, and the one that struggles most on result day.

  1. Open one of the portals below.
  2. Enter your symbol number.
  3. Enter your date of birth in Bikram Sambat.
  4. Submit, and wait. Do not refresh. A refresh cancels your place in the queue and starts you over.
  5. When the sheet loads, use the print or download button, then choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.

Portals

PortalRun byNotes
see.ntc.net.npNepal TelecomThe workhorse, usually first to respond
see.gov.npExamination Control OfficeOfficial source, heavy load early
neb.gov.npNational Examination BoardBoard site, also carries the result notice
soce.gov.npOffice of the Controller of ExaminationsOfficial record, also used for verification
see.edusanjal.comEdusanjalMirror, generally stable
results.ekantipur.comKantipurMedia mirror, stable once the surge passes

Mirrors pull the same board data. A mirror is not a lesser result, it is the same result served from a machine that is not currently on fire.

Do this the moment the sheet loads. Save the PDF, email it to yourself, and print two physical copies. One goes into the college admission file and one goes to entrance examination registration. Students who skip this end up queueing at a cyber cafe on the busiest week of the year.

Method 5: Check SEE result on apps and wallets

Digital wallets built result lookup in years ago and they hold up well, because they are engineered for festival day payment traffic.

  • eSewa: the result section in the app, and see.esewa.com.np on the web.
  • Khalti: the result section inside the Khalti app.
  • Ncell App: result lookup for Ncell users.

Enter the symbol number and date of birth, view the sheet. These present a clean formatted sheet that is easy to screenshot and share.

Do not pay anyone to check your result. Every method here is free or costs one SMS. Any site or person charging a fee to reveal a result is running a scam.

How to read your SEE grade sheet

One row per subject, a GPA at the bottom. Each row splits the subject into theory and internal components.

ColumnWhat it means
Subject codeThe board's code for that subject
Credit hourThe weight the subject carries in your GPA
THTheory, the written examination component
INInternal, the school assessed component
GradeThe letter grade for that subject
Grade pointThe numeric value behind the letter

Your GPA is the credit weighted average of the subject grade points, which is why a poor grade in a high credit subject drags harder than the same grade in a low credit one.

The grading scale

Marks obtainedGradeGrade point
90 and aboveA+4.0
80 to below 90A3.6
70 to below 80B+3.2
60 to below 70B2.8
50 to below 60C+2.4
40 to below 50C2.0
35 to below 40D1.6
Below 35NGNon graded

NG is the grade that matters. It means non graded, and it sends you to the grade increment examination. The threshold applies to the theory paper and the internal assessment separately: broadly 35 percent of the theory component, which works out at 26.25 out of 75, and 40 percent of internal assessment, which is 10 out of 25. A strong internal score therefore cannot rescue a failed theory paper. The board restates the exact thresholds in the notice published with each result, and that notice is the version to trust.

A GPA is not a percentage. A 3.2 is a B+ result in the 70 to 80 band, not 3.2 percent of anything. For what each GPA band actually opens up, read our companion piece on the SEE result 2082 pass rate and what your GPA lets you study next.

Troubleshooting: when the result will not load

What you seeWhy it happensWhat to do
Invalid symbol numberTypo, missing letter suffix, or the registration number used by mistakeRe-check digit by digit against the admit card
Details do not matchThe BS date in your NEB registration differs from yoursAsk your school which date is on file
Result not foundWrong symbol number, or a mirror that has not synced yetConfirm publication from the board notice, then retry elsewhere
Page loads then hangsServer queue at peakSwitch to SMS or USSD, return to the portal after two hours
Blank or partial sheetThe page rendered before the data arrivedReload once, then try a different portal
Result withheldThe board has held the result pending a decisionContact the National Examination Board at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, through your school, within six months
Name, surname or age wrongA data entry error at registrationFile a correction application with documentary proof, within six months
Site asks for payment or an OTPYou are on a fake result pageClose it and use a portal from the table above

That last row deserves emphasis. Result day is a good day for scams. Fake result pages copy the look of the real portals, harvest symbol numbers, and ask for a payment or an OTP. No official result service asks for an OTP, a wallet PIN or a fee.

If the result itself looks wrong

There is a formal route, and it closes fast.

  1. Get the grade sheet in hand. Do not open a complaint from a screenshot of a mirror.
  2. Go through your school. Schools compile and submit re-totalling applications collectively, which is faster and less error prone than going alone.
  3. Apply inside the window in the result notice. The board announces the application deadline and a per subject fee with the result. In the 2081 cycle, re-totalling applications closed on Ashadh 23, 2082, roughly three weeks after publication. It does not extend for students who were travelling.
  4. Know what it does. Re-totalling re-checks the addition and transfer of marks. It is a verification of totalling, not a fresh evaluation of your answers.
  5. Keep the receipt for follow up.

Errors in your name, age or subjects are a records correction rather than re-totalling, and they follow the separate six month route in the table above.

The grade increment examination

Students with NG in one or more subjects sit the grade increment, or supplementary, examination.

CycleGrade increment examinationRe-totalling deadline
SEE 2081Shrawan 29 to Bhadra 6, 2082Ashadh 23, 2082
SEE 2082Ashar 1 to Ashar 9, 2083, papers 8:00 am to 11:00 amAnnounced with the result notice

Three points students consistently get wrong:

  • Registration goes through your school, not to the board directly, and the deadline is earlier than most students expect, often two to three weeks after the result.
  • The improved grade replaces the old one on your transcript.
  • Grade 11 admissions at most colleges close before increment results are out, so it is not a route to change stream later.

The online sheet is not the official document

This is the distinction that costs students a week during admission.

DocumentWhere it comes fromWhat it is for
Online grade sheetThe result portalsImmediate reference, early admission enquiries
Official mark sheetYour school, once the board issues itThe admission file, scholarships, further study
Character certificateYour schoolRequired alongside the mark sheet at admission
Online verificationThe verification service on soce.gov.npInstitutions confirming your result is genuine

Colleges will start an admission on the strength of the online sheet. They will not complete one without the printed mark sheet and character certificate. Collect both from your school as soon as they are issued, rather than discovering in the middle of a festival week that the school office is shut.

Frequently asked questions

When is the SEE result published? Roughly six to eight weeks after the examinations end in Chaitra. The 2082 result came out on 11 May 2026, one of the faster turnarounds in recent years. The board signals the date a day or two ahead through its notices and the press.

Can I check my SEE result without the internet? Yes, three ways. SMS to 1600, the IVR line on 1600, and the USSD menu on *1600#.

Do I need my date of birth for SMS? No. SMS, IVR and USSD need only the symbol number. The date of birth is required only on the portals and apps.

What is the SMS format exactly? SEE then a space then your symbol number, for example SEE 0201382D, sent to 1600.

Should I dial 1600 or 1601? 1600 for SEE. 1601 is the NEB Grade 12 line.

I lost my admit card. How do I find my symbol number? Your school holds the symbol number list for all its candidates. Contact the exam section with identification.

Why does the portal reject my correct date of birth? It checks the Bikram Sambat date in your NEB registration, which your school submitted. If the two differ, the registration date wins. Ask your school what is on file and apply for a correction if it is wrong.

Is the SMS result official? It is accurate and it comes from the board's data, but it is not a document. Admission needs the printed mark sheet from your school.

How is GPA calculated? As the credit weighted average of your subject grade points. Subjects carrying more credit hours move your GPA more.

Is my GPA a percentage? No. A 3.2 GPA is a B+ result, in the 70 to 80 mark band. It is not 3.2 percent.

What does NG mean? Non graded. The subject missed the minimum in theory, in internal assessment, or in both, and must be cleared through the grade increment examination.

Can a strong internal score save a failed theory paper? No. The minimums apply separately to each component.

What does a withheld result mean? The board is holding the result pending a decision, usually over an examination irregularity or a records problem. Approach the board at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, through your school, and do it within six months.

How long does re-totalling take? The board processes applications after the window closes and publishes revisions as a separate notice. Expect weeks, not days, and do not delay Grade 11 admission while you wait.

Is there a fee to check my result? No. Portals, apps and the NTC services are free. Premium shortcodes bill the standard per message rate. Anyone charging you to reveal a result is running a scam.

The site keeps timing out. Is my result missing? No, the server is saturated. Use SMS or USSD, and return to the portal in the evening.

Can my parents check the result for me? Yes. Any of these methods works from any phone with the symbol number.

Can private and exempted candidates check the same way? Yes. The board publishes all candidate categories together and the same symbol number lookup applies.

After the result

Once you have your grades, the clock is running on admission, not on celebration. Collect the printed mark sheet and character certificate, shortlist five colleges rather than one, and compare total annual cost instead of the advertised monthly fee.

Grade 11 is also not the only road. CTEVT diploma and technical programmes take students straight from SEE into a trade, and for some students that is a better return than a stream chosen for status.

If you are choosing where to apply, browse the Scolar directory of colleges and schools by district, level and stream. And if you are weighing science against management against humanities, read the GPA band guide in SEE Result 2082: Pass Rate Rises to 65.98 Percent before you pay an admission fee you cannot get back.
