What is a chemical equation balancer, and how does this free Nepal tool work?

A chemical equation balancer makes the number of atoms of each element equal on both sides of a reaction. Scolar's balancer is a free, browser-only tool for Nepal: type a reaction like H2 + O2 -> H2O and see the balanced coefficients instantly. No sign-up, no watermark, nothing uploaded.

Why it is free, with no sign-up and unlimited use

The balancing runs on your device, so the equations you enter are never stored and no account is needed. That keeps the tool 100% free, adds no watermark, asks for no email, and lets you balance unlimited reactions.

How to balance an equation, step by step

  • Type the unbalanced reaction with '+' and '->' (for example Fe + O2 -> Fe2O3).
  • The tool counts atoms and solves the coefficients.
  • Copy the balanced equation with whole numbers.

Chemistry in the Nepali curriculum

Nepal's Grade 11 and 12 chemistry syllabus and IOE, CEE and MBBS entrance exams expect students to balance equations quickly. This tool helps a student in Kathmandu or a rural school check their work and learn the method, entirely offline after the page opens.

“A Nepali science student should not buy an app to balance H2 + O2. Type it - free.”

How it works

1

Type your reaction with formulas separated by + and an arrow -> between the two sides.

2

The balanced coefficients appear instantly, scaled to the smallest whole numbers.

3

Check the atom table - every element must show equal counts on both sides.

Why use this tool?

  • Solves the system exactly with rational arithmetic - no floating-point guesswork.

  • Supports brackets and nested groups like Ca(OH)2, Mg3(PO4)2 or Fe2(SO4)3.

  • Symbols are case-sensitive: Co is cobalt, CO is carbon monoxide.

  • Works offline in your browser - great for checking homework before submission.

Frequently asked questions

Why do equations need balancing?

Atoms are conserved in every reaction, so each element must appear equally often on both sides. Coefficients are adjusted until the counts match.

How does the balancer find the answer?

It writes one conservation equation per element, solves the resulting homogeneous linear system exactly, then scales the solution to the smallest positive integers.

How do I write bracketed groups?

Just like on paper: Ca(OH)2, Mg3(PO4)2, Fe2(SO4)3 - including nested brackets if needed.

Why did my equation fail to balance?

Usually a typo - a wrong symbol or subscript makes the reaction physically impossible. The error message points at the formula causing trouble.
