What headers and footers are for

A header or footer is a line of repeating text that appears on every page - a report title, your name, a submission date, an institute name or simple page numbers. Stamping them consistently makes assignments, projects and official prints look tidy and professional.

Three slots: left, centre and right

Each line has three independent slots. Put a title on the left, a date in the centre and Page X of Y on the right - or use just one. Whatever you leave blank is simply not drawn, so you stay in full control of the layout.

Automatic tokens: {page}, {pages}, {date}

Instead of typing numbers by hand, use tokens that fill in automatically on every page: {page} is the current page number, {pages} is the total count, and {date} is the date computed when you run the tool (day/month/year). Mix them with your own words, for example Submitted {date} then Page {page} of {pages}.

Top header or bottom footer

Choose whether the line sits at the top or the bottom of each page. The text is placed near the page edge with a small margin so it rarely collides with body content. Switch position if your document is already crowded at one edge.

Font size and avoiding overlap

You can set the text size from 8 to 16 points. Smaller sizes are safest on dense pages. If a page already reaches the very edge, reduce the font or pick the other position so the stamp does not sit on top of your writing.

Common uses for students

Add a subject name and roll number to every assignment page, stamp the date of an exam on a practice set, or label a project with your college name. Because it is applied in your browser, nothing is uploaded and you can re-run it as often as you like.

Frequently asked questions

Is this header and footer tool free?

Yes. Adding headers and footers to a PDF on Scolar is completely free, with no watermarks and no sign-up. Made for students in Nepal - 100% free, no watermark.

What are the special tokens?

Type {page} for the current page number, {pages} for the total page count and {date} for the date when you run the tool (day/month/year). They are replaced automatically on every page. Made for students in Nepal - 100% free, no watermark.

Can I use different text on different slots?

Yes. The left, centre and right slots each hold their own text, so you can put a title on the left and a date on the right. Made for students in Nepal - 100% free, no watermark.

Will the text overlap my content?

Text is placed near the page edge at a small size you control (8 to 16 pt). If a page is already full to the edge, choose the other position or reduce the font size. Made for students in Nepal - 100% free, no watermark.

Can I put a different header on the first page?

This tool stamps the same line on every page, so it does not support a separate first-page header on its own. Leave the slots blank if you do not want a line everywhere, or edit page 1 afterwards in a full editor. Made for students in Nepal - 100% free, no watermark.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The text is stamped inside your browser, so your file never leaves your device and the tool works offline. Made for students in Nepal - 100% free, no watermark.
