What is GPA, and how does this free Nepal calculator work?
GPA (Grade Point Average) turns your letter grades into one number on the 4.0 scale, so schools, universities and scholarship boards can compare students at a glance. In Nepal, NEB uses this scale for both SEE and Grade 11/12 results. Scolar’s GPA Calculator is a free, browser-based way to work it out: you add your subjects with credit hours, pick each letter grade, and your credit-weighted GPA appears instantly — no sign-up, no maths, no upload.
Why it is free, with no sign-up and unlimited use
The calculation runs entirely on your own device. There is no server to store results and no account to create, which is why the tool stays 100% free, adds no watermark, asks for no email, and lets you calculate as many subjects and terms as you like.
How the GPA is calculated, step by step
- Add your subjects: type each subject name and its credit hours (most NEB subjects are 3–5 credits).
- Pick the letter grade you earned — A+ down to NG — from the dropdown for each row.
- Your credit-weighted GPA updates live at the top, with a plain-language verdict like “Excellent” or “Distinction level”.
- Add or remove rows for extra subjects, then use the GPA in your admission form, scholarship application or just to track progress.
What the GPA means for Nepali students
A+ (4.0) is the top of the scale and roughly maps to the old “Distinction”, while 3.2–3.59 is “Excellent” and 2.4–2.79 a solid pass. Because credit hours weight the average, a strong grade in a heavy subject like Mathematics or Physics lifts your GPA more than a light elective. Knowing this early helps you plan retakes, electives and scholarship applications across Nepal’s education system.
