Good to know

Multiple levels

Choose the level that matches your goal and visa requirement.

CEFR aligned

Levels map to international CEFR bands from A1 to C2.

Visa proof

Accepted as language evidence for study visas.

Fixed dates

Held on set dates through the year, so book early.

What NAT is

The NAT-TEST mirrors the JLPT's level structure and is accepted by most Japanese language schools for admission. Its advantage is frequency: it runs six times a year rather than twice, which matters enormously when a school intake deadline does not line up with the JLPT calendar. Many Nepali students sit NAT-TEST for their application and JLPT later for the record.

Test format

Vocabulary, grammar and reading, and listening — the same shape as JLPT, at equivalent levels 5 through 1.

Where to take it

Held six times a year at authorised Japanese language institutes in Kathmandu and a few other cities.

Which level do you need?

Visa and university rules name a minimum level, for example B1 or B2. Confirm the exact level before enrolling so you study the right tier.

How the levels map

Levels follow the CEFR scale from A1 (beginner) to C2 (mastery). A higher level proves more proficiency and unlocks more programmes.

Booking fixed test dates

These exams run on set dates, not continuously. Seats fill quickly in Kathmandu, so register as soon as your preparation plan is set.
