Frequently asked questions
How is the overall IELTS band calculated?
Add your Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking bands, divide by four, then round to the nearest 0.5 band. A mean of 6.75 becomes 7.0; 6.25 becomes 6.0.
What TOEFL score do I need?
It depends on the university and course. This tool totals your section scores; check each institution’s published minimum, which is usually a total out of 120.
Is this the official score?
No - it estimates the band or total from scores you enter. Your official result comes only from the test centre.
Can I use it for PTE or other tests?
This tool covers IELTS and TOEFL iBT only. PTE uses a different 10-90 scale and is not included.
