The honest picture

Bangladesh exists on the Nepali study map for one reason: medical seats. MBBS and BDS at Bangladeshi private medical colleges cost substantially less than the equivalent private seat in Nepal, admission runs on your NEB Physics, Chemistry and Biology marks rather than a competitive entrance exam, and the course is taught in English on a curriculum close enough to Nepal's that returning to practise is straightforward.

The one thing that determines whether the whole exercise works is recognition. The medical college must appear on the Nepal Medical Council's recognised list, and you must pass the NMC licensing examination when you return. Colleges not on that list are still selling seats to Nepali students, and a degree from one cannot be registered in Nepal : this is the single most important verification to make before paying any deposit.

Admission runs through a government-designated process each session, and the seat allocation for Nepali students is quota-based.

Why Bangladesh

  • MBBS and BDS at well below Nepali private-college cost
  • Admission on NEB marks : no NEET, no entrance-exam year
  • Taught in English, with a curriculum close to Nepal's
  • Close enough to travel home cheaply and often
  • Recognised colleges produce graduates who register with the NMC every year

Tests Bangladesh asks for

TestTypical requirementNotes
IELTS No English test for most MBBS seatsMBBS admission turns on NEB marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The visa route

After receiving admission through the designated process, apply for a student visa at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu with the admission letter, academic transcripts, passport, financial evidence and the required clearances. A Ministry of Education NOC is required before departure, and for medical programmes you should retain the Nepal Medical Council eligibility documentation.

Working during and after study

Student visas do not carry meaningful part-time work rights; the medical curriculum is full time in any case.

"The Nepali students who do best in Bangladesh are the ones who treat the financial file as seriously as the offer letter. Tuition and living costs are only half the story: the proof of funds and a clean visa history are what turn an admission into a granted visa."

What Nepali students say about Bangladesh

"Moving to Bangladesh felt overwhelming until I broke it into steps: test, offer, NOC, visa. Keeping every cost in NPR front and centre stopped me from losing track of the budget."

"I compared Bangladesh against two other countries side by side. Seeing the post-study work rights and the proof-of-funds requirement together made the choice obvious."
