The honest picture
The UK's appeal to Nepali students is compression. A taught masters takes twelve months rather than two years, which halves both the tuition and the living cost of the whole exercise, and the Graduate Route then allows two years of work afterwards without needing a sponsor. For a student funding themselves through a loan, that arithmetic is hard to beat.
The visa is document-driven rather than interview-driven: the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies from your university, the 28-day maintenance funds rule, and the Immigration Health Surcharge do most of the work. The maintenance rule catches people out more than anything else : the money must sit in an eligible account for 28 consecutive days ending no more than 31 days before you apply, and a balance that dipped on day 19 restarts the clock.
One policy point worth knowing: most taught masters students can no longer bring dependants, a change that landed in 2024.

The visa route
Your university issues a CAS after you accept the offer and pay a deposit. You then apply online for the Student visa, pay the visa fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge, give biometrics at the visa application centre in Kathmandu, and submit your CAS, English evidence, academic documents, and maintenance funds held for 28 consecutive days. Standard processing is about three weeks, with priority services available. A Ministry of Education NOC is required before departure.
Working during and after study
20 hours per week during term for degree-level courses and full time during vacations. After graduation, the Graduate Route permits two years of unsponsored work (three years after a PhD).

Your maintenance funds must remain in an eligible account for 28 consecutive days, and the closing balance date must be within 31 days of your visa application. Any dip below the required amount restarts the 28 days.
