New Zealand behaves like a gentler version of Australia: similar academic system, similar English requirements, similar post-study work rights, but with a smaller student population, a lower cost of living outside Auckland, and a visa process that Nepali applicants generally find more predictable.
The country is deliberate about quality over volume. Its providers are ranked by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, and a level 7 bachelors degree or level 8 postgraduate qualification carries a post-study work visa of up to three years, while lower-level qualifications may carry none. That level distinction is the single most important thing to check before accepting an offer : a level 6 diploma and a level 7 degree can look similar in a brochure and lead to completely different outcomes.
February and July are the intakes, with July the more common second option for Nepali students.

The visa route
Apply online to Immigration New Zealand after receiving an offer of place. The file needs the offer, evidence of tuition payment or a scholarship, proof of funds (about NZD 20,000 per year of living costs), English test results, academic transcripts, a medical certificate and police clearance. Processing typically runs four to ten weeks. A Ministry of Education NOC is required before departure.
Working during and after study
Up to 20 hours per week during term and full time during scheduled holidays for eligible students. After graduating, a post-study work visa of one to three years depending on the qualification level.
